The Friends of Bassing Beach, including its members and the landowners we represent, seek the preservation and conservation of Bassing Beach, Briggs Harbor and Cohasset Harbor for generations to come. We also seek to find common ground with the Town of Scituate to find a possible location for aquaculture that is suitable to everyone and that does not interfere with the activities that have been enjoyed by thousands of children and adults for many years.

We built this site to educate people and to tell the real story.

While we hope to change hearts and minds, we have also brought in legal counsel to assist. Much of Bassing Beach is privately owned, this includes the actual beach and the sand flats that is the focus of the proposed farm.

The following letter from the attorneys representing FBB, a group of preservation focused Scituate taxpayers, was sent to Scituate putting them on notice that these property owners are prepared to defend their intertidal lands in favor of conservation and preservation and against aquaculture installations, which are not a public right under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 91.
